Sandown Park shares its facilities and a 10,000-seater grandstand with horseracing, just as Aintree once did in England. Formerly a mainstay of the Tasman Cup, the circuit was redeveloped with a new infield section in 1984 to comply with FIA circuit length regulations, and a round of the World Sportscar Championship was held. The exercise was repeated four years later, but Sandown has now returned to being a national circuit using the old 1.9-mile layout.
