Nivelles

Designed by Roger Caignie, this safe but bland circuit was built near Brussels in 1971. When Spa-Francorchamps fell from favour in the early 1970s, Nivelles-Baulers twice held the Belgian Grand Prix both of which were won by Emerson Fittipaldi as part of his championship campaigns. But the teams hated the new track and the championship did not return again. Nivelles went bankrupt and was sold in October 1977, closing soon afterwards. The site of the 1972 and 1974 Belgian GPs is now an industrial estate.
