Watch highlights of a packed weekend’s action, including an Ott Tänak-dominated Rally Sweden, the Daytona 500 and the latest thrilling Formula E instalment

Ott Tanak on the way to Rally Sweden victory

WRC Rally Sweden

Torbsy, Sweden: The World Rally Championship’s rising star Ott Tänak dominated a snowy and challenging Rally Sweden in his Toyota. With it he takes the WRC championship lead; perhaps surprisingly it is the first time in his career he’s led that table. You can watch below both Tänak’s triumph and how the conditions caught out some auspicious names.

Daytona 500

Daytona, Florida: Denny Hamlin in a Toyota won NASCAR’s season-opening blue riband event for the second time, and in so doing led home a 1-2-3 result for his Joe Gibbs Racing team, with Kyle Busch and Erik Jones following him home. But it was another crash-strewn and interrupted event which had several extended delays including two red flag stoppages then an ‘overtime’ finish.

Mexico City ePrix

Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mexico City: Formula E somehow managed to surpass an already thrilling start to the season, with an exhilarating finish in Mexico City’s round four. Mahindra driver Pascal Wehrlein – again impressing in his freshman Formula E campaign – took the pole and led, almost, all of the way. As just when it looked like he would hold off a furious late challenge from Audi’s Lucas di Grassi, Wehrlein ran out of energy just shy of the line and di Grassi snatched victory.

Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy

Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mexico City: Katherine Legge dominated the Formula E support race. She led from pole and held off a challenge from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team-mate Bryan Sellers to prevail. With it she become the first female to win a race in a Formula E weekend, as well as took the championship lead from Simon Evans.

Xfinity series Daytona 300

Daytona, Florida: There wasn’t a dry eye in the house Michael Annett took his first Xfinity win after nine years of trying. He held off his team-mate Justin Allgaier for the last 45 laps in a notoriously single-file event. For his JR Motorsports squad – co-owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr – the success was more familiar as it was its fourth win in the last six at this race.

AMA Supercross

Arlington, Texas: Cooper Webb snatched the 450SX main event win by half a wheel from Ken Roczen in a thrilling sprint to the line. Webb described it as “absolutely insane. That’s probably the best race ever for me”. The win in turn let Webb pip Roczen at the championship table top by two points. Austin Forkner meanwhile once again dominated the 250SX East event, leading all the way in the final.
