Celebrate AJ Foyt’s birthday by watching his quartet of Indy 500 victories

As today is AJ Foyt’s 84th birthday, it’s as good an excuse as any to look back at his four Indianapolis 500 wins.
We’ve found this brilliant footage from Indianapolis Motor Speedway that recaps all four of his wins at the legendary race, with Foyt himself narrating each race.

“I’m quite sure I had tears running down my eyes like a big baby,” he says reflecting on the 1964 victory – his second of three Indy 500 wins between ’61 and ’67.
But it took the man another 10 years to win his fourth 500 and become the first driver to ever do so.
“To see somebody win Indianapolis for the fourth time? That meant a whole lot to the crowd. Mr [Tony] Hulman rode around the track with me instead of my wife which meant a whole lot to me.
“It was a dream come true. It took me 10 years to win that fourth one, but if it took 20 years it was worth it.”
