Montoya returns to Indy 500 with McLaren

Two-time Indy 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya will get behind the wheel of a McLaren IndyCar for his seventh start in the American classic

Montoya has two wins in six starts so far at the Indy 500

Two-time Indianapolis 500 champion and seven-time grand prix winner Juan Pablo Montoya will return for his seventh entry in the Brickyard classic this year with the McLaren IndyCar team.

The Columbian, who won the race on his debut in 2000 and again in 2015, will be part of what currently stands as a three car team for this season’s 500, partnered by full-time drivers Pato O’Ward and Felix Rosenqvist.

Montoya ran the 500 with McLaren last year also, finishing in ninth place.

The former Williams and McLaren driver famously said of Indianapolis after a few practice laps “So far, it’s been very simple to get around here,” before winning it at his first attempt with the Chip Ganassi team.
