The West Surrey Racing founder was instrumental in the careers of many, winning five British F3 championships in the 1980s. The roll of honour is impressive, Jonathan Palmer (’81), Ayrton Senna (’83), Mauricio Gugelmin (’85), Mika Häkkinen (’90) and Rubens Barrichelo (’91). Five British Touring Car Championships have followed, and they secured the manufacturers’ crown at Brands Hatch last weekend.
