New sponsorship deal for ‘extraordinary’ F2 talent
Liam Lawson announces partnership with Rodin Cars ahead of his F2 debut

Red Bull Junior Driver Liam Lawson has already been tipped for future F1 glory and has now received further backing in a sponsorship deal with Rodin Cars.
The 18-year-old New Zealander won three races in last year’s Formula 3 Championship, finishing on the podium six times.
He was the fastest rookie in last year’s F2 Bahrain test and moves up to the series this season.
Lawson will drive alongside Juri Vips with Hitech and will also race with Alex Albon in the DTM as part of a busy 2021 schedule.
He said that his new partnership with Rodin will help him maximise his performance in both series.
“The support from the Rodin team in my own career definitely gives me an edge that I can’t wait to showcase throughout the 2021 season,” said Lawson.
New Zealand-based Rodin, which makes the FZED single-seater and FZERO prototype, has assisted Lawson since he was 16.
In 2018, the company’s founder, David Dicker offered Lawson a test in a Formula 3 car, ahead of a season racing in Formula 4. He has since been back to the facility to test the F1-based FZED track car.

“I have been really looking forward to driving the Rodin FZED,” said the teenager. “It is faster than an F2 car and it’s always good to drive something faster than you race.
“I’m very grateful to Rodin Cars and David Dicker for the backing to compete in Formula 2. I’m so excited to race this year with Rodin and Red Bull livery on my car.
“We believe that we’ve got a strong package, so our goal for the year is to win races and eventually win the championship.
“F2 has some very experienced drivers and only a handful of rookies this year so it will be a tough championship. There are some new tracks for me as well, so I’m really looking forward to racing at places such as Monaco.”
The partnership was a “no-brainer” for Rodin, said Dicker. “Even at such a young age, it’s obvious that Liam is an exceptional talent and a world-class racing driver,” he said.
