Formula E

Monte Carlo, Monaco: The all-electric series is meant to turn your perception of racing on its head, It managed that at Monaco which, in Formula E configuration, is one of the fastest tracks on the championship calendar. Not only that, but there was overtaking too. The closely-fought race ended in victory for Jean-Eric Vergne, making him the first driver to win two races this season – nine rounds in.

 

World Rallycross

Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium: The Ardennes circuit hosted last weekend’s World Rallycross round, with Spa’s Eau Rouge corner making up part of the tarmac and gravel circuit. Don’t expect the cars to be delicately threaded through the dipping, twisting section: the final was a bruiser with barging, broken bodywork and clouds of dust, as Timur Timerzyanov emerged the victor.

European Le Mans Series

Monza, Italy: Four hours of Prototype and GT racing at Monza ended in victory by just two seconds for the G-Drive team and its Aurus 1 Oreca-Gibson. A mid-race safety car bunched up the field, ensuring that it was a close-fought race to the flag.

 

Indy GP

Indianapolis, Indiana: Scott Dixon mastered the dry and wet conditions at the IndyCar Grand Prix, but couldn’t hold off Simon Pagenaud after struggling with high tyre degradation. Behind them, rain caused chaos, with spins, a loose tyre in the pitlane, and sensational passing as the track dried. 

 

World Touring Car Cup (WTCR)

Slovakia Ring, Slovakia: An explosive launch off the grid took Ma Qinghua to the lead of the third WTCR race of the weekend. Pressed heavily throughout, the Chinese driver held on to take his first victory in the series.
