Williams has taken the wraps off its all-new 2022 F1 car livery

Williams has unveiled its 2022 livery which will adorn the FW44, whilst still remaining coy on the design of its actual new car.

Team boss Jost Capito, plus drivers Nicholas Latifi and Alex Albon, were on hand at its Grove base to help take the wraps off what appeared to be an F1 2022 show car, revealing a new nearly all-blue colour scheme.

However, Capito still elaborated on the challenges of this year’s new regulations as the team attempts to build on the podium scored by George Russell last year and numerous 2021 points finishes.

“The whole aerodynamic concept of the car is very, very different and it should allow the cars to drive closer to each other,” said Capito. “The theory is one thing, but reality has to prove it is right.”

“It’s exciting to be part of this new journey,” added Albon.” A year out and you’re itching to get going [again], it makes you hungry to get back in the seat. For me it was about trying to get as much experience as I could, the year out allowed me to see things from a different perspective.

“In terms of preparation in the simulator and feeling, we have a pretty good idea of what the car’s going to feel like.”

Latifi, who scored his first career points last season, highlighted how he’s looking forward to further progress this year.

“I’m really looking to build and use the experience I have from the first two years with the team, especially going into a new year with new regulations, new cars,” said the Canadian. “It’s a fresh start for everybody.”

Capito also had his say on the team’s ’22 livery.

“The design really reflects our brand definition we re-did last year, especially when you look at the various shades of blue with our diamond scheme,” he said. “The little touch of red is there because we are a proud British team.”
