Mercedes tracking young karting talent
Toto Wolff has revealed Mercedes is tracking the progress of 11-year-old Italian karting protégé Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
Born in Bologna in 2006, Antonelli already has two titles to his name: the 2018 WSK Champions Cup 60 Mini category and the 2015 Easykart Easy 60 class.
He races for karting super team Tony Kart, and is managed by Giovanni Minardi.
Antonelli currently races in the WSK Super Masters series.
Mercedes currently has three drivers in its ‘Junior Team’, Pascal Wehrlein, George Russell and Esteban Ocon. Wehrlein, who switches to DTM for 2018, and F2 driver Russell will act as the team’s reserve drivers in 2018.
