Two members of the Haas F1 team as well as a McLaren team member have gone into self-isolation in Melbourne ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

All three displayed symptoms similar to those caused by coronavirus, though none have been confirmed as testing positive for it.

Currently, there are no confirmed cases within the Formula 1 paddock and new precautions are being implemented to prevent any further risk of transmission.

The three team members were tested for coronavirus by the circuit’s isolation unit before being put into self-isolation back at their hotels.

A statement from the organisers of the race said that they were currently “monitoring” the situation.

“The Australian Grand Prix Corporation has been informed of three Formula 1 team personnel presenting for precautionary testing and who are now all undergoing precautionary self-isolation,” Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott said.

An additional statement also announced changes to the scheduled autograph sessions for fans, as well as limited interaction with drivers being implemented.

“In the current environment, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation wishes to advise fans of a change to the format of both the autograph sessions and the operations of Melbourne Walk as they relate to both Formula 1 drivers and Supercars drivers at the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2020.

“Autograph sessions will now be conducted as Q&A interview sessions.

“Drivers will continue to utilise Melbourne Walk but will not be closely interacting with fans for selfies, autographs or other direct engagement.
