With stints in Formula 1 with Ferrari, McLaren and Benetton, Gerhard Berger has seen it all from the cockpit, and has been heavily involved in motor sport out of it too.

The ten-time grand prix winner remains as one of the most experienced drivers to have raced in F1, and lined up alongside some of the great names including McLaren team-mate, Ayrton Senna.

The pair pulled plenty of practical jokes and got up to humerous antics with one another, but Berger’s involvement in racing did grow to become more serious following his retirement from F1 in 1997.

Berger oversaw BMW’s return to F1 in the early 2000s before moving over into becoming co-owner of the Toro Rosso team between 2005 and 2008.

A stint as the President of the FIA Single Seat Commission from 2012 to 2014 has most recently been followed up by becoming chairman of the ITR – promoter of the DTM series.
