Race to the city – F1 returns to Adelaide

Formula 1 cars have lit up Adelaide once again, this time to promote December’s Adelaide Motorsport Festival.

Supercar drivers Tim Slade, Cameron Waters and Josh Kean took to the wet streets in an Arrows, a Footwork and Benetton, with Troy Bayliss and John Bowe in tow on a Ducati and a Holden. Somehow, the shoot was all done in secret and took the cars from the airport to the festival’s Victoria Park venue.

Adelaide hosted F1 11 times in the mid-1980s and 1990s, with Damon Hill winning the final Grand Prix in 1995. The circuit still plays host to Supercars on a shorter 2-mile configuration.

Adelaide Motorsports Festival takes place on December 7 to 10.
