With anticipation building ahead of the F1 season opener in Bahrain, the full image of 2023 has emerged: cars, liveries and crash helmet designs.

We now have the full grid’s lids available to see, with some standout looks developed from last season.

Spiderman fanatic Esteban Ocon has channeled his inner Marvel character with an ominous black look, while Fernando Alonso has gone hi-vis with a modern take on his classic design – complete with new Aston Martin wings.

Lando Norris has kept in vogue with the current car liveries by featuring carbon detailing, while Yuki Tsunoda has opted for a distinctly autumnal look.

Max Verstappen – Red Bull

Max Verstappen has gone for a classic approach this season, more in tune with his dad Jos’s classic colours. Can the Dutchman take a third consecutive title this year?

Sergio Perez – Red Bull

Sergio Perez keeps up the traditional Mexican art detailing, combined with his favourite hi-vis licks.

Charles Leclerc – Ferrari

Charles Leclerc felt the pain last year as his championship challenge petered out, but the Monégasque has stayed true to the Scuderia cause with an ultra-scarlet look this year.

Carlos Sainz – Ferrari

Carlos Sainz claimed a popular debut win at last year’s British GP, and would sincerely love to add more this season. The proud Spaniard bears his country’s national flag again.

George Russell – Mercedes

George Russell has ditched his true blue lid of last season in favour of a new design that puts him in harmony with his car’s colour scheme. Unveiled just ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the ‘volt green’ colour scheme matches his Mercedes W14’s race number and green highlights.

It’s also a throwback to the green helmet sported by Russell in 2006, his first year of karting.

Lewis Hamilton – Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton moved away from the purple design of the last few seasons in 2022 for a hi-vis take on his original look. Now he’s incorporated the Prince look into the yellow lid which, as with Russell’s, matches his car number.

Esteban Ocon – Alpine

Esteban Ocon, one of the true jokers on the grid, has an eye for a noticeable helmet. He’s done it again with the Knight Rider approach.

Pierre Gasly – Alpine

Pierre Gasly’s only going for gold, as indicated by the lid below.

Lando Norris – McLaren

Lando Norris sticks to his famous, Valentino Rossi-inspired, look, but this time including carbon detailing in appreciation of all the raw F1 flesh currently on show.

Oscar Piastri – McLaren

Rarely has there been such a furore over a driver who hasn’t even turned a wheel in F1 race action, but Oscar Piastri’s scintillating junior record demanded as much from Alpine and McLaren.

He’s keeping it colourful with the latter for 2023, including a racy-looking Australian flag.

Valtteri Bottas – Alfa Romeo

Valtteri Bottas has stayed true to his icy roots with this cool blue look, designed by girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell.

Zhou Guanyu – Alfa Romeo

Zhou Guanyu has his hometown Shanghai’s skyline on his crash helmet – sadly not Sheffield, where he spent many of his formative years, but we’ll let him off due to the cuteness of a design also celebrating the year of the rabbit.

Fernando Alonso – Aston Martin

Alonso’s classic colours have gradually evolved over the years, but thankfully he’s ditched the BWT inspired pink look from last year.

Now he’s gone for an Asturian hi-vis take, complete with Aston Martin wings.

Lance Stroll – Aston Martin

Lance Stroll seemingly has to stay on-brand to earn his pocket money from dad and team-owner Lawrence, with a very Aston lid on show.

Kevin Magnussen – Haas

Kevin Magnussen’s initial’s remain prominent on his bonce this year, with plenty of the colour palette serving as an homage to beloved Haas title sponsor MoneyGram.

Nico Hülkenberg – Haas

The Hulk is back, for a bit longer than usual apparently, and he’s gone a slightly Mark Rothko on his latest design – didn’t realise the serial non-podium finisher was such a fan.

Yuki Tsunoda – AlphaTauri

Yuki’s feeling Autumnal this year, hopefully in what isn’t a metaphor for his stuttering F1 career.

Nyck de Vries – AlphaTauri

De Vries sticks to his usual template, except it’s been given typically tasteful full Red Bull and AlphaTauri makeover.

Alex Albon – Williams

Alex Abon‘s dark blue helmet tended to blend in with his Williams’ bodywork last season. There’s less chance of that happenin this year, with the addition of pink highlights for 2023.

Logan Sargeant – Williams

F1 wanted nothing less – a US driver with a name so American it can only be shouted NFL-‘hut!’ style. Logan has a suitably large Stars and Stripes flag plastered on the side of his crash helmet in deference.
