Gallery: 2022 Formula 1 driver helmets
All of the driver's helmet designs for the 2022 Formula 1 season
The 2022 Formula 1 season is fast approaching and teams are gearing up to take on pre-season testing in Barcelona and Bahrain.
Just as the teams have done with their cars, drivers like to get in on the act of the reveal and new helmet designs are now featured just as much on social media as the liveries of the cars they’ll be driving.
Get to know the grid and which drivers to look out for with this gallery of 2022 F1 crash helmets.
Max Verstappen
The world champion uses his right to bring back the No1 to Formula 1 for the first time since 2014. The Dutch driver has unveiled a new lid for his title defence and hasn’t strayed far from ’21’s effort.

Lewis Hamilton
The seven-time world champion has gone back to his roots with a yellow design, but this time a fluorescent take on the Senna colours he previously used, saying it takes him back to his “karting days”.
For this year's helmet I wanted to show love to my beginnings. As much as I love purple and black, yellow is my history. I’m going into this season with the same dedication, drive, and passion I had way back in my karting days 💛 pic.twitter.com/PMIP5SgF0Q

George Russell
Russell will not use a red helmet anymore and has instead switched to black for the 2022 season.
“A red helmet in a Mercedes I thought was very Michael Schumacher, and I really wanted to respect that and go in a different direction,” the British driver said ahead of the new season.

Charles Leclerc
Leaving you in doubt as to his allegiances, Charles Leclerc has gone for more red than ever on his 2022 design.

Carlos Sainz
The ‘Smooth Operator’ Carlos Sainz has just signed a new two-year deal with the Scuderia. His current crash helmet indicates he’s intending to stay for some time.

Daniel Ricciardo
Never one to stick to the conventional, Daniel Ricciardo has once again gone outside the box with his new ‘present momentum’ helmet for the new F1 season.
Pierre Gasly
The Frenchman starred during last season and he’ll be hoping for the same again in 2022. In that sense, he’s kept things familiar with his design for this season too.
Yuki Tsunoda
It’ll be slightly easier to tell the two AlphaTauri drivers apart this season as Yuki Tsunoda has moved away from the flourescent red to an orange lid for ’22.
Alexander Albon
Thought it might look like it, Alex Albon isn’t back at AlphaTauri or Red Bull this season though he remains a Red Bull-affiliated driver. He’ll hope his F1 return with Williams is a little more distinctive though.

Valtteri Bottas
After finally departing Mercedes, Valtteri Bottas has a fresh start at Alfa Romeo and he’s gone with a brand new crash helmet design too. Designed by partner Tiffany Cromwell, the Finn will be hoping it helps him on the way to points finishes with his new team
Mick Schumacher
The Haas driver has changed things up once again and taken another design from his father’s collection. Similar to the Mercedes era of Michael Schumacher helmets, Mick has gone back to the green he used earlier in the ’21 season.
