Who will shine under the floodlights during the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP?

Alfa Romeo

The final round of the season is set to be a very tense affair as the title battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will be decided.

Also at stake is your F1 Fantasy season with just one last chance to seal your place atop the mini leagues you’re in or make up lost ground against your rivals.

The new Yas Marina Circuit is set to increase the likelihood of overtaking and allow drivers to follow one another more easily.

First practice takes place in the sunshine but the session you’ll want to pay most attention to is FP2, running under the floodlights just like the qualifying and race sessions.

Choosing the right driver could net you huge points in the finale or leave you with a disappointing final total when every point counts.

Here are some things to consider for your Fantasy F1 lineups for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Price changes

Risers

After his third-consecutive victory last weekend, Lewis Hamilton is the only price-riser this week. The Mercedes driver is now a whopping 33.0m and comfortably the most expensive driver asset you can pick for the final round of the season.

Fallers

There have been no price drops this week since the Saudi Arabian GP.

Must-haves

Ferrari and both its drivers have been in good form during the final third of the season. Since its engine upgrade the team has had the measure of McLaren on most weekends. Any of the three assets could work in your team this weekend so picking between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz could come down to FP2 pace and qualifying sims in FP3.

Alpine have surprised in the past two races with great results for Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon in Qatar and Saudi Arabia respectively. The French team looked strong in first practice and could be in line for another great result this weekend. Alonso looks to be the stronger driver of the two in Abu Dhabi so far.

Ones to avoid

Steering clear of the title rivals due to the unpredictable nature of their on-track duels might be a good move. Sure they might be set to battle for pole position but the chances of them crashing out and resulting in a non-score isn’t unrealistic.

Max Verstappen’s all-out aggression has been on full display in these final few races and with him holding the advantage of more wins over Lewis Hamilton, his approach is likely to be more of the same in Abu Dhabi.

Top % picks

Lando Norris and Max Verstappen remain as the top two drivers in Fantasy F1 in terms of selection percentage. Norris appears in 62% of teams and Verstappen just shy on 60%. Pierre Gasly and George Russell are next-best at 46% and 45%.

Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari are the top three in terms of selection for the final round. 36% have opted for Red Bull, 26% picking McLaren and 12% have gone with Ferrari for the final race.

Chips to play

Don’t forget that this is the last chance for you to play any chips you might have saved (or forgotten about). The Mega Driver chip will give you a x3 score on whichever driver you pick to use the boost.

A wildcard will allow you to make up to 15 transfers during a single game week allowing you to chop and change your team until you’re happy with your line up.
