Last year was the first full season where AlphaTauri was using Red Bull’s wind tunnel, and familiarity should help to improve developments. Tsunoda has another year of experience under his belt and new team-mate De Vries showed his potential when he deputised for Williams‘ Alex Albon at last year’s Italian Grand Prix.
As with Red Bull, AlphaTauri has opted to keep its new car under wraps until after the launch event, so there will be no clues to its progress until later.
2023 AlphaTauri F1 driver line-up
Nyck de Vries | Yuki Tsunoda |
Pierre Gasly was initially contracted to AlphaTauri for 2023 but released to Alpine, filling the slot left by Fernando Alonso. The team initially wanted to sign Colton Herta but the IndyCar star didn’t qualify for a superlicence, which left an opening opening for De Vries, following his impressive Monza appearance.
Tsunoda continues in his third year at the team, where he’ll need to start producing some attention-grabbing drives is he wants to line himself up for any future Red Bull opportunity.
