The FIA Motorsport Games has announced it will expand to 18 disciplines in 2021 when it visits Circuit Paul Ricard later this year.

2021 will be the second year that motor racing’s version of the Olympic Games has run following its cancellation in 2020 due to the global pandemic.

GT Sprint for pro drivers and LMP3 Endurance races will now form part of the new line-up while rally stages are now set to run on tarmac sections at Sainte-Baume.

Historic Rally, Historic Regularity Rally as well as Rally2 and Rally4 cars will join the list of events, as the off-road categories are expanded for 2021.

Karting will also grow in 2021 with new Karting Endurance and Karting Sprint events while Cross Car discipline will also receive an additional event in Auto Slalom competition.

The second iteration of the Motorsport Games will take place between October 29-31 and will offer a chance for motor sport to grow in countries set to be represented according to the FIA.

“As President of the FIA Drivers’ Commission, I am glad to see this amazing event back on track,” Tom Kristensen said.

“The FIA Motorsport Games is an exceptional opportunity for the entire motor sport family to come together, from grassroots level to the elite, with women and men from a host of regions and countries all sharing this passion we have for the sport.

“It is also a chance to give motor sport in your country fresh impetus after this difficult period. As drivers, we don’t get many opportunities to race on behalf of our country. I was lucky enough to do so in my career and I have some lasting memories of that time.

“Whoever you are and whichever country you come from, there’s a category that’s made for you.”

The inaugural event took place at Vallelunga Circuit in Rome back in 2019 with Russia winning one gold and two bronze medals to become the first winner of the Games.

Along with the new events, the original six disciplines, GT, touring cars, F4, drift, karting slalom and esports return from the 2019 iteration with junior and senior categories available in some disciplines.
