The Ferrari 275P, winner of the 1964 Le Mans 24 Hours, is expected to fetch more than £24 million at auction in February
Jean Guichet and Nino Vaccarella took this Ferrari 275P to victory at the 1964 Le Mans 24 Hours, and, on February 9, it is expected to break the previous Artcurial/Bardinon record of £24m at auction. The current Artcurial/Bardinon record holder is the 1957 Ferrari 355 S Scaglietti.
Ferrari’s works team has won Le Mans eight times; this 275P was the last Ferrari works car to win it as Vacarella and Guichet covered 4695.3km at an average of 196.638kmh.
The car was then sold and shipped to the United States, where it was entered in the Road America 500 three times from 1965-66, and the Sebring 12 Hours in ’65. In the late ’60s, Pierre Bardinon began to assemble his staggering collection of around 50 formative racing cars, also building his own circuit at Mas du Clos, France.
This will be the first time that the 275P is to be seen in public since Bardinon added it to his collection.
