This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed is the latest event to be postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The scheduled July weekend is now planned to take place later this year.

In a statement, it was confirmed that the decision was made as a result of government advice and that the safety of potential fans, visitors, staff and drivers was of primary concern.

“Over the last few weeks, we have been working together with everyone involved to understand the viability of the Festival of Speed going ahead in July,” said The Duke of Richmond. “Due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus threat and not knowing whether the situation will have significantly improved by then, we sadly need to postpone the Festival of Speed in July,”

It was also confirmed that a new date for the annual Members’ Meeting was being discussed, following the postponement of the event from the weekend of 28-29 March.

New dates for both events are under review, with a late-summer to early-autumn slot the aim for the Festival of Speed.

The Goodwood Revival remains as scheduled from the 11th-13th September, though that date will continue to be monitored by organisers.
