The Brabham BT52 will form a central feature of Goodwood’s Speedweek, as we report on page 114, and enjoyed a remarkable career despite it ultimately being a rush job. When ground effects were banned at the end of 1982, Brabham designer Gordon Murray had just six weeks to design it from scratch. His arrow-like effort paid off handsomely, with Nelson Piquet winning three races and taking the championship.
