MGB series to mark 50 years

The 50th anniversary of the MGB will be marked in 2012 with a dedicated race series for the evergreen British sports car. One of the races will be at the club’s major Silverstone race meeting in June.

The MG Car Club’s plan is to run three races at its meetings for FIA Appendix K-specification cars, including some famous ex-works examples from the early 1960s.

“I think there are between 30 and 40 cars out there already,” said prime mover David Saunders, who plans to enter his own car 6 DBL, the first works MGB which was raced at Sebring in 1963 by Christabel Carlisle.
