When Brooklands was reopened after the war in 1920, apart from racing it was occupied by many determined record breakers, the first of whom was C M Harvey, later of Alvis fame, who in the light car class did a standing-start half-mile, kilometre and mile at 54 to 61.5mph in a Silver Hawk. Then Archie Frazer-Nash in the new class K (750-1100cc) in his 84x98mm GN achieved standing-start short-distance records at speeds from 57.25 to 66.39mph, also doing the same distance with a flying start at around 80mph.
