Sole Can-Am BRM in crash

The sole-surviving BRM P154 Can-Am car was extensively damaged at Brands Hatch in early July when Frenchman Yvan Mahe speared off backwards at Clearways during an Orwell Supersports race.

Just two P154s were built in 1970, with one lost when a boat sank, leaving the car owned by Mahe, who has raced it regularly in Supersports. The high-speed impact did considerable damage to the chassis and Mahe spent a night in hospital for observation.

The 8.8-litre car and its sister were raced by George Eaton and Pedro Rodríguez in the 1970 Can-Am Championship.
