Wembley scores with Race of Champions return
Wembley Stadium has hung on to the Race of Champions end-of-season shoot-out between some of the world’s top race and rally drivers.
The stadium has been chosen to host the event for a second consecutive year ahead of a number of rivals. The one-day event will take place on December 14.
Fredrik Johnsson of Race of Champions organiser International Media Productions said: ”British fans have a great passion for motor sport and really embraced the Race of Champions. We looked at proposals for several venues around the world, but Wembley was the best choice for 2009.”
Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher and Toro Rosso driver Sebastian Vettel are the first drivers confirmed to take part in the multi-discipline event on a circuit laid out on the pitch at Wembley.
