Bumper field for Pageant of Power

A capacity entry of 80 cars and 40 motorbikes will contest the inaugural Cholmondeley Pageant of Power on August 9/10, competing on a 1.2-mile sprint course in the grounds of the Cheshire estate.

There will be powerboat racing on the lake and helicopter demonstrations, but it is the on-track activity that is at the heart of this bold new event. Entries range from the Napier Bentley of Chris Williams to the Hesketh 308 F1 car of Mike Wrigley, while other notable cars include the Chevron B26 ‘chocolate drop’ of John Ruston, Alan Minshaw’s Maserati Birdcage and Julian Bronson’s McLaren M1B.

“The course will be a demanding test for every driver,” said former TT winner and event patron Stuart Graham. “It’s narrow, bounded by natural obstacles and has blind brows and adverse cambers.”

The estate roads have been widened and resurfaced for the event. Practice is on Saturday and timed runs on Sunday.
