Tour of beauty

A record 76 cars will contest the third Tour Britannia when the classic race and rally tour starts from Brands Hatch on Tuesday, September 4. Two dozen will contest the regularity event and 52 will be in the competitive event, which includes timed special stages at Brooklands on the opening day. 

Races at Donington Park, Mallory Park and Oulton Park are included on days two and three. John Grant (Chevron B16) and Gareth Burnett (Ford GT40) are among the leading entries, while Moscow-based Irishman Paul McMorran will drive a rare Crosslé 7S (below) in what is likely to be its competition debut as it was first built as a road car with a coupé body and a 4.2-litre Oldsmobile engine. The other 7S models built by John Crosslé were open sports-racing cars. 

“It was built as a quick road car but it’s really a racing car for the road,” says marque enthusiast McMorran.
