Ferrari Gauld mine
Graham Gauld
The subhead reads, ‘a compendium of Ferrari and Ferrari-related stories’. And that’s exactly what you get: a series of highly personal vignettes that first appeared in the Ferrari Owners’ Club of America newsletter, Prancing Horse. So there’s everything from Gauld’s remembrances of Lord Selsdon – ‘the other half of Luigi Chinetti’s 1949 Le Mans win’ – to recalling Albert Uderzo (creator of Astérix the Gaul) flogging his 512M around Mas du Clos. This engaging softback is also sprinkled with Gauld’s memories of Il Commendatore and many of the Ferrari drivers he’s known during a lifetime in motorsport. And not just the obvious ones: it’s great to read any text dedicated to the likes of Jonathan Williams and Andrea de Adamich. Good value, too. RH
