John Ure eased ERA R9B to a convincing win in the Bob Gerard Trophy race, the feature event of the VSCC’s annual Mallory Park visit. With Ken White failing to start after suspension problems on his Cooper-Bristol, Ure was unchallenged. Paul Jaye’s Alta took second after initially trailing Brian White (Frazer Nash-BMW) and Mark Gillies (Riley Treen). Gillies retired on lap six and Jaye finally made it past White as they charged down the Stebbe Straight four laps from home.

A terrific battle between Richard Scaldwell in the Indianapolis Sunbeam and Mark Walker’s Panhard-Levassor was the highlight of the Dick Baddiley & Edwardian Trophy. As the handicap unwound Scaldwell took the laurels, with Walker pipped for second by the Studebaker of Adrian Goding.

The Morgans of lain Stewart and Gary Caroline made sure that Robin Baker’s Delage-Hispano had no peace in the Vintage race, with Stewart finally leading them home.

The John Taylor Memorial Trophy for FJunior was a race-long battle between the Lotuses of Edwin Jowsey and Simon Diffey. Jowsey had the pace, but Diffey had the racecraft and twice nipped ahead when Jowsey was hindered by backmarkers. Having regained the lead on the penultimate lap, Jowsey held on to win.
