A Roger Williamson statue has been unveiled at the Donington Grand Prix Collection. The young British racer was backed by circuit owner Tom Wheatcroft and made his grand prix debut at Silverstone 30 years ago.

The third Festival of Speed will be held on Jersey over the weekend of August 29-31. Pre-1977 cars and motorbikes will compete in a quarter-mile sprint on Friday and a hillclimb at Greve de Lecq on Saturday.

British racer Nigel James has bought an ex-Jochen Dauer Porsche 962 from Richard Bryan and will use the car in Group C events. Chassis 141 has been raced in the USA in recent seasons. James now has his Spice SE86 for sale.

With over 25 cars entered, the Edwardian event during the VSCC’s Mallory Park race meeting in July represented what is thought to be the biggest entry of cars from this era since 1920.

British competitor John Lloyd will be contesting this year’s East African Safari Rally in a 1974 Ford Escort Mk1 prepared by Historic Motorsport. Lloyd’s interest in rallying was sparked by a childhood in Kenya, and he marshalled on the Safari Rally during the ’60s and 70s.

An ex-Jim Clark Lotus Cortina Mk1, reg. BJH 417B, sold for £90,000 during the recent TWR Collection auction held at Brands Hatch.
