Fowler's nose out of joint
A rare defeat for Neil Fowler’s very quick Lola T200 resulted after slight contact with arch-rival Paul Sleeman damaged the nose of the Lola and forced him to ease off. While Sleeman’s rare Macon MR8 took the flag, Fowler was edged back to third by the Merlyn Mk20 of Adrian Rush.
Sleeman then headed a Macon 1-2 in the Classic Racing Car event as James Winslow followed him home, the FF1600s beating all the more powerful cars.
Robin Longdon had to work hard in the FJ race to make up for a slow start and win in his Lola MBA, while Neil Dunkel’s Argo JM3 topped the Derek Bell Trophy/Classic F3 results. Newall’s 120 took the Jaguar XK race.
