Reims means Brooks

Sir,

I have just read Chris Nixon’s news item in your August edition advising that the old Reims circuit has been closed for roadbuilding works.

If I’m in the Reims area Hike to drive past the old grandstand and reflect on 1959 when Tony Brooks won the French Grand Prix driving a works Ferrari Dino.

Being a Brooks fan, I really enjoyed his article in the May edition of Motor Sport recalling his drive at the Nürburgring . I’m sure readers would be interested to see a reprint of Jenks’ Motor Sport report on the Syracuse Grand Prix of 1955 when Brooks’ Connaught beat the works Maserati team to record the first victory by a British car and British driver in a GP since Segrave and Sunbeam. In that article, Jenkinson manages to convey the enormity of what was achieved that day in Sicily.

I am,Yours etc,
