Sorry BRM

This year’s Coys Festival at Silverstone was as good as ever and I particularly enjoyed seeing the enormous gathering of BRMs. However I thought that it was unfortunate that perhaps the most important BRM of all, the 1962 World Championship winning V8, was not able to race, or at the very least take part in the track parade. The car remained in the paddock throughout, looking sorry for itself, bodywork held together with adhesive tape and a sign proclaiming it is now owned by Brooks the auctioneers. F1 cars from the 1.5-litre era may not be as glamorous as some from other periods, but they are no less significant and this BRM in particular deserves a better fate than to sit around gathering dust.
