We have received from Lawrence Designs & Models, 194 Stoneleigh Avenue, Worcester Park, Surrey KT4 8YA a white metal kit for making up into a model of the Percival Mew Gull monoplane. This should be of interest to those who read Alex Henshaw’s latest book, “The Flight of the Mew Gull” which is reviewed elsewhere in this issue of Motor Sport, because in it this well-known racing and test pilot had a great deal to say about his famous Mew Gull, G-AEXF. Indeed, his book is largely about how he raced this great little aeroplane, which be acquired in 1937, and then broke, by a big margin, the England/Cape/England record with it, in 1939. The point is that the LDM kit, which costs £10.90, makes up into a nice little miniature to 1:4-scale of this aeroplane — which is still in existence, incidentally, in the form in which it is today, as it was raced in the King’s Cup in 1938, or in the Capetown-record rig. With the kit come instructions for assembling the model, which goes together with soft-soldered or glued joints, for making it up in the three forms just referred to.

British Leyland’s Heritage Collection has moved to its new home at Syon Park. Brentford, and is now open to the public once more. The collection, which was housed at Donington Park, spans the whole of motoring history, right from the earliest days with exhibits from the various companies which have merged over the years into the British Leyland we now know.

Standard/Triumph International Rally 

The fifth Standard/Triumph Internetional Rally by the relevant clubs and registers, which incorporates the 21st Anniversary Rally of the Standard Register, takes place at Charlecote Park, Nr Stratford on Avon, Warks, on September 6th/7th. Admission is 75p per person.  WB
