The one-make history is passing now to the specialist one-model or particular-period survey. Such a book is this one on the later Hudson models, written by Richard Langworth, the well-known American motoring writer and Editor. It is exceedingly comprehensive, with 208 pictures and tables of production figures, for 1945 to 1957, the racing successes of the Hudson Hornet from 1951 to 1955, Hudson literature, and art Index.

The book covers such Hudson models as the Step-Down., Jet, the Nash-built cars, and the still-born Italia, etc. Langworth interviewed Hudson personalities such as Bob Andrews, Stuart G. Baits, Roy Chapin, Junr., etc. to obtain authentic information and apart from this detailed coverage of the post-war Hudsons, there is the Hudson racing participation and a most interesting account of how a fourth American automobile corporation was planned. Nor does the author shirk to tell us why, in his opinion, Hudson failed. This book will no doubt be in demand here among those who like the later American cars.—W.B.
