The Brooklands Society has as its new Secretary R. Mills, M.I.Mech.E., M.I.M.C., of 21, Heathpark, Windlesham, Surrey. Membership is still dealt with by P. Harris, Hayne Court, 18, Hayne Road, Beckenham, Kent. The Society has issued a brochure describing its future hopes for development of the old Motor Race Course, This contains an annotated map of Brooklands and many pictures of it in pre-war times etc. It is obtainable from the Society for £1, plus 8p Postage. The STD Register is celebrating its 25th Anniversary at Sandhurst on September 20th/21st (the Editor of MOTOR SPORT’s wife, then owning a 1927 Sunbeam 16 tourer, founded it in 1950) and hopes to publish a Special edition of its “Journal” to commemorate the occasion. In this year’s STD Register Wolverhampton Rally, in which some 43 cars took part, ranging from 1912 to 1935, the Rootes Trophy (age/distance) was won by B. Burnley’s 1927 Sunbeam 16 which came 419 miles, the Pride of Ownership Award went to F. E. Mance (1926 twin-cam 3-litre Sunbeam), the D’Arcy Clarke Trophy (best under-bonnet condition) to H. Harrison’s 1924 14/40 Sunbeam and the Perkins Trophy (most meritorious work) to R. Carter. David Hales says the intended one-year rebuild of his ABC Super Sports has taken six years, but he now has the car back on the road. The Editor has suffered the theft of a ten-spoke Dunlop steel artillery wheel taking a 700 x 80 or 26 x 3 tyre needed for the rebuild of a 1925 Cluley and would be glad to hear of a replacement. He also requires a copy of MOTOR SPORT for December 1936, to complete a set depleted by loss or theft during house removal.
