Martini Historic Cars Race
For the record the Historic Cars Race at the Aston Martin O.C. Martini Trophy Meting, over 15 laps of the full Silverstone circuit, was won by Neil corner’s 1959 3-litre G.P. Aston Martin DBR4 at 97.75 m.p.h. from Lucas’ Maserati 250F and Lindsay’s Maserati 250F. Corner and Lucas tied for fastest lap, at 99.97 m.p.h. The first pre-war car home was Bill Morris’ E.R.A., at 88.8 m.p.h., after it had set a new class lap-record of 91.79 m.p.h. Fast motoring!
