Good tools
In most socket spanner sets the ratchet-handle attachment suffers from a pawl and tooth engagement that is too coarse, needing quite long movements of the handle before the next tooth engages; invariably, when working in a limited space, this means you contact some obstruction that makes ratchet work impossible. John Bedford & Sons Ltd., of Lion Works, Sheffield, 3, have now produced a ratchet handle attachment with a very small pawl and tooth movement, which is just what we have all been wanting for working in a confined space. There are two types, a fixed head handle and a jointed head handle, the latter allowing 180-degree movement relative to the ratchet drive. Sizes vary from 3/8 in.to 3/4 in. square drive, and prices from 52s. 6d. to 160s., and we recommend this tool.—D. S. J.
