The V.S.C.C. Castle Combe meeting (Sept 16th)

Castle Combe is a circuit well suited to vintage and historic racing cars and is situated in a part of England pleasant to drive to in pre-war motor cars. So those who have enjoyed the Silverstone and Oulton Park V.S.C.C Race Meetings will not wish to miss the final round of the 1967 season. The date is September 16th. The programme includes the Spero and Voiturettres Trophies Race over eight laps for vintage and p.v.t. cars of up to 1,100 C.C. for a trophy donated by the driver of the Austin 7 “Mrs. Jo Jo” at Brooklands who enters a Maserati 250F for his son to drive in today’s historic car races,. a 3-lap Edwardian Race; the Light Car Handicap which gives Chummy Austin 7s and the like a chance to show their paces on the race track, and a 12-lap All-Corners’ Scratch Race for the fastest cars the V.S.C.C. can muster, supported by a number of 5-lap handicaps.

The only post-war cars vow will see racing, will be historic racing cars and there will be no saloons. A very good day’s sport can be expected, quite different from run of the mill motor racing. The Motor Sport Brooklands Memorial Trophy will be won during the afternoon and the trophy will probably be presented at the trackside. Admission is free if 15s. is paid for parking the car; Paddock passes cost 6s. each. This seems very reasonable, especially as 50% of the Paddock takings are to be given to the R.A.F. Association Wings Day Appeal.

The circuit is near Chippenham in Wiltshire and the first race is at 12.30 p.m.
