V-E-V Odds and Ends
The old airship hangar at Nelson Village, Cramlington, on the At between Newcastle and Morpeth, is to be demolished. A reader tells us that he believes the hangar was begun during the First World War and completed in 1919 and is reputed to have had some association with the R33 and Riot. After the 1914/18 war it seems to have housed a small airship used locally for advertising purposes. It is near the old Cramlington aerodrome which a Zeppelin raided during the war when it was the home of No. 36 R.F.C. Squadron.
