Rodin Cars has announced a summer 2023 arrival for its “faster-than-an-F1-car” FZero.
Having previously produced the FZed track day car (which was based on Lotus’ T125 F1-inspired chassis), the New Zealand company is busy with its new project. In a press conference at its Donington Park showroom, company founder and CEO David Dicker revealed what we should expect from the company’s latest track-only single-seater. A scale model of the FZero shows that the car will be Batmobile-like, not too unlike a Le Mans Hypercar, with a covered cockpit. The idea is to give its owner “no limits” performance.

“We’re going to reduce the weight from 698kg,” said Dicker, “with a downforce figure higher than you get in F1. It will easily be 50kg less than an F1 car.” Propelled by a bespoke 4-litre twin-turbo hybrid V10 which is linked up with a 130kW electric motor, the power unit currently gives 1100bhp, “but we’ll wind it up to 1300,” Dicker added. “The custom electric motor will fill in the torque a bit. It should do 360kph [223mph] pretty easy on the straight – and the straight won’t need to be that long.”

The experience will remain exclusive: Rodin will only produce 27 examples of the FZero. The price is yet to be decided.
