The Ferrari SP3 Daytona driven on page 116 celebrates the Italian marque’s famous 1-2-3 finish at the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours race – a result that bloodied the nose of archrival Ford. The victory was one particularly savoured by Enzo Ferrari, coming a year after his defeat by the Americans at Le Mans. So much so that Mike Parkes, driver of the second-placed Ferrari 330 P4, commissioned a painting of the three-abreast finish. The artwork remained in Enzo’s office until his death in 1988.
