Calling all drivers! Motorsport UK is recruiting racers to compete for their country at the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games.
Unveiled by the FIA and SRO Motorsports Group, the Games are an Olympic-style tournament pitting drivers against one another for national pride.
Six categories have been selected for the inaugural Games, including touring cars, F4, drifting, karting slalom and esports while a GT race will headline the event. The full entry list has yet to be published but the competition is based on the GT Nations Cup, which had competitors from 18 countries.
Participating nations are responsible for organisation of its own entry, with one entrant per category for each country.
Motorsport UK, the domestic governing body, has opened applications to represent Team UK. “We want to ensure the strongest representation possible,” Motorsport UK technical director, John Ryan told Motor Sport. “We will consider all applications received and will be planning our representation over the next fortnight.”
Anyone can apply to represent the UK as long as they hold a British passport and relevant FIA racing licence. Individuals will be required to provide their own vehicles that meet homologation, with the exception of the F4 and karting, which will be provided.
The Games will award medals and will have an opening and closing ceremony.
