Never on a Sunday
That was clearly an affectionate piece by Mike Doodson in the September issue on Great Train Robber Roy James, but I fear Mike’s memory has failed him over the date of the 1963 Tourist Trophy. As with all international motor racing in the UK in the Sixties, meetings were held on a Saturday and the TT that year was no exception. That very minor error apart, it was a fascinating article, greatly illuminated by the fact that Mike knew the man. I clearly remember following reports of the robbery in the papers as a schoolboy, and recall reading that the police had swooped on Goodwood to find that the ‘Weasel’ had departed.
