WHAT THE TEAMS SAY
Richard Dutton is team principal of Fortec Motorsport, which currently runs William Buller (second in the points), Lucas Foresti and Harry Tincknell in British F3. The team has yet to win a championship, but has so far claimed five races this year.
“It’s the F3 championship,” says Dutton. “It is quite expensive, but it is very important to do. British F3 is a university if you like. It’s more than just the history that makes it so well regarded you get so much track time and it’s very competitive. Because of that, British F3 is tough and no one ever lucks into a championship win. “There are 25 days of testing a year and that really helps the drivers. More
importantly, it’s the only category other than Fl where you can do anything you want in terms of development. The front and rear wing profiles are fixed as well as the crash structures, but the rest you can change and that means an ongoing development programme. It makes it exciting for the engineers. It really has got so much going for it.”
