Philippe Sinault is team manager for Signature racing, which is running Marco Wittmann, Laurens Vanthoor, Carlos Munoz and Daniel Abt in the F3 Euro Series. The team won the title last year and may well repeat that success if With-norm can make up a points deficit to Roberto Mehri.
“The F3 Euro Series is one of the best platforms for young drivers,” says Sinault. “It’s got great TV coverage (German news station n-tv covers every race) because it is a support race for the DTM and thanks to that it usually has plenty of spectators.
“At the moment the series isn’t as strong as it has been. The drivers are very good, but there are several singleseater series now and we’ve lost a few drivers to GP3, Formula 2 and Formula Renault 3.5. It’s an expensive category and that combined with the fact that GP3 runs on the same weekend as Fl races has meant we’ve lost drivers.
“Drivers learn a lot more in the Euro Series, though, because they get to work with engineers and help develop the car. It’s the best place to learn the job that’s why so many GP3 drivers came from here.
“I think there’s space in the market for the Euro Series and British F3, and I’m confident about the future, especially if the FIA plays the game and takes the hand of the championship.”
