Need for sound and vision

Sir,

On the very day that the disappointing news concerning F1 coverage on the BBC became known, the September edition of Motor Sport dropped through the letter box. Two fabulous cars driving on the roads of West Scotland — all thoughts of F1 disappeared. I was not in any way disappointed by an excellent read.

Many thanks to all who contributed to the article, the ‘victim’ Ian Callum, the author Gordon Cruickshank, the photographer Greg Pajo and the owner of the Ferrari, Clive Beecham, as well as the Ullapool garage mechanics who kept the show on the road.

If ever there was a need for another dimension, that of sound, this article was it — just imagine opening those magnificent photo spreads and being hit by the wall of sound those cars were making as they floated up the Scottish Glens. Still, I am not complaining. I finished the article and straight away read it again. The photos should be made available for purchase as highquality prints — a guaranteed sell-out. Among the roads in that area which require honourable mention is the A832 running south from Ullapool to Gairloch — another beauty both in a car or on two wheels, and one that I sincerely hope the crew had the chance to experience. If not, how about a return visit? Bob Hart, Wakefield, West Yorks
