Masters major at Oldtimer
The first Grand Prix Masters race delivered a close finish during the 39th Oldtimer GP at the Niirburgring.
Roland Kinch (Arrows A4) pipped Joaquin Folch (Brabham BT49C) by just 0.3 seconds, but in Sunday’s wet race Steve Hartley was on top in his A4 with Kinch second and Folch down the order.
Simon Hadfield won a wet World Sportscar Masters race when he took over Folch’s Ford GT40 to head the similar car of David Forsbrey by a second. In Saturday’s dry race, Manfredo Rossi de Montelera won at a canter in his Abarth Osella PA1.
Tony Smith (Ferrari 246 Dino) and Paul Grant (Cooper-Bristol) shared the spoils in the Pre-61 GP races, marked by the appearance of Josef Rettenmaier’s very rare Maserati V8RI.
Gary Pearson took an E-type Challenge double, and the four-hour AvD Marathon on the Nordschleife fell to the E-type of Frank Stippler and Marcus Oeynhausen (above).
