Harvey gets Cobra ride for Spa
Former British Touring Car Champion Tim Harvey hopes to contest this year’s Spa Classic Six Hours sharing James Shead’s AC Cobra. The pair were rivals in the Metro Challenge in the early 1980s before teaming up in Group C. “I tried the car at Donington, and all I can say is it’s fabulous,” said Harvey.
Over 100 cars have been entered for the September 24 race, with nine Ford GT4Os including the open top roadster of Philip Walker and Danny Wright. Former winners Jon and Jason Minshaw and Martin Stretton head the 11-strong Jaguar E-type squad. Other front-running AC Cobras are entered for Chris Chiles/Paul Ingram and David Hart/Hans Hugenholtz.
The three-day festival has races for Grand Prix Masters, HGPCA and the Sir Stirling Moss Trophy for Pre-60 sports cars.
