Stuttgart makes its UK marque

The largest-ever UK gathering of racing Porsches marked the inaugural Porsche Festival at Brands on August Bank Holiday. Organised by Porsche Club GB. the event included eight races solely for the marque as well as demon laps from a raft of racing Porsches.

Le Mans cars featured included the victorious 936 and the 911GT1-98 which took victory in ’98. Three 917s and a clutch of 956/962s also took to the track. Henry Pearman drove the ex-Bellof Rothmans-liveried 956. while Mark Lemmer drove a 917.

Sunday’s demonstrations included a gaggle of rare and older cars, including the 904 of Irvine Laidlaw.

Tony Brown returned to the Club series to win in his 911 Carrera RS, while the Bill Taylor Trophy went to the GT3 of Richard Westbrook /Jason Young.
